History of Waltonia Lodges

Waltonia Lodges has been in operation since 1923 when it was opened as a fishing camp owned by Dr. William Lee Secor and operated by J.F. Ralston. This section of the river was famed for its beauty excellent Black Bass, Crappie, Catfish and Perch fishing. Cottages / campsites were available then at a cost of $1.00 per day.

In 1939, Mr. & Mrs. Secor became the owner-managers. In the years to come, Waltonia saw much water flow over and under the bridge. A family of three was born and reared and valued customers and long-life friends were made. Bill and Mae Secor retired in 1983 after 44 summers.

A family tradition continued, the newest owner-manager, Thornton Secor took over in May, 1983 to operate Waltonia in much the same fashion. Waltonia has seen many improvements in cabins, landscaping and recreational activities.

Waltonia continues to value our long-standing families and friends who make Waltonia a very special place. Likewise, we welcome new families and friends as the Waltonia tradition continues.
